The Lodz Heights Landscape Park was established in 1996 on the territory of the municipalities of Lodz, Nowosolna, Brzeziny, Strykow, Dmosin and Zgierz. The area of the entire park is 10,747 hectares, and itso The lagging area is about 3,000 hectares. The park was established to protect the unique upland landscapes in Central Poland, which occur in the edge zone of the Lodz Heights. The park's beautiful upland character is given by its high relative altitudes. This can be observed from many vantage points located in the protected area (including those near Teolin, Borchovka, Dabrowa, Janow, Plichtow). They make it possible to admire the panorama - unspoiled by industrial construction - of the landscape. The park is relatively sparsely forested, as it accounts for only 28%. However, there are interesting natural features within its borders. The Park includes the Janinowski Forest, the largest Beech Forest in central Poland, and the largest forest complex within the city limits, the Lagiewnicki Forest. A number of rivers also pass through PKWŁ, including the Bzura, Moszczenica, Mrożyca, Mroga, Miazga, creating a fairly dense water network, which results in the formation of peat bogs and a multitude of water plants, the formation of rushes, flowery meadows. Also through the park runs a watershed of the first order. The most valuable in terms of nature fragments of the park are protected in nature reserves: * Lagiewnicki Forest - 69,85 ha, * Struga Dobieszkowska - 37,65 ha, * Parowy Janinowskie - 41,66 ha. The establishment of the Żabieniec Peat Bog reserve is planned. In addition, the Upper Mrożyca Nature and Landscape Complex has been established. An additional value of the Park is the accumulation of valuable cultural objects, such as. A medieval fortified settlement in Stare Skoszewy (from the 6th-9th century), a classicist manor house in Byszewy (where Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz often visited), manor parks and palace-park complexes in Lagiewniki, Klêk, Dobieszków (as well as a park in Niesułków, preserved in a residual state), or religious buildings in Dobra, Niesułków, Stare Skoszewy, Lagiewniki and Lodz (at Wycieczkowa Street).
