In 1284, Pomezanian Bishop Albert appointed the first members of the chapter, so even at the end of the 13th century, construction of the second fortress began. It was located after theopposite the city, and the construction itself took place in several stages. The building was besieged and destroyed several times in the 15th and 16th centuries. On September 19, 1410, Władysław Jagiełło, who was returning from Malbork, entered the castle. The brick castle was built on a near-square plan measuring about 49x50 meters. The strongest point of defense was the 59-meter-high bell tower located in the southern part of the courtyard. It surpassed the castle buildings by more than 20 meters, and its top was topped with a crenellation. A loo was built to the west, in "honor" of the Danzigers, named gdaniskiem (it is probably the largest latrine in the world). Today the castle houses a rather extensive and richly furnished museum, with paintings, old furniture, sculptures, pottery, stoves, locksmith and blacksmith products, insurgent memorabilia and hundreds of stuffed animals spread over several floors.
