15.08.2016Jan Kiepura is a Polish singer and actor who lived from 1902 to 1966. He enjoyed perhaps the greatest international fame and popularity among Polish singersof the interwar period, succeeding on the stages of the world's leading theaters, as well as in concert halls and on the cinema screen. With the money he earned on the stages of the world during the interwar period, he built the villa "Patria" in Krynica-Zdroj, costing three million dollars - a filming location for several films in the late 1930s. Since 1967, the Jan Kiepura European Festival has been held annually in Krynica-Zdroj.
