No great craziness. The potential for making an interesting uranium mine tour was not realized. After all, there aren't many of them in Poland. There should be more exposurecation of equipment related to radioactivity, rather than showing stones from around the world behind glass. Interesting hearing about the bomb explosion in Hiroshima - until one asks for some film in the background. In the same projection room, a laser show - altogether one green sheaf for several minutes, the same music over and over again. This tour could have been much more interesting if all this had been capitalized.

20.08.2015This is an interesting and safe tourist route. It is perceived by tourists as an underground world of legends, mysteries and real history, connected by nearly 700years with the exploration of ores, minerals and the mining of iron ore, as well as uranium ore. It is one of more than 20 adits of the Soviet-Polish R-1 plant involved in the exploration, extraction and shipment of uranium ore to the USSR for the production of the first Soviet atomic bomb in 1945-47. At that time, mining activities in and around Kowary were surrounded by strict secrecy. And even later the history of these adits was not entirely open. The construction of an inhalation chamber in the adit for the Cieplice Health Resort allowed radon treatment to be carried out. It was one of three such inhalation rooms in Europe. Prepared and opened (29.04.2000) to the public, the route counts about 1200 m of galleries, chambers and underground caves, where treasures of the Walloons and exhibits related to the extraction of uranium ore have been collected. You can also take a look at the work of miners, follow the rhythm of extracting and transporting ore, and experience the excitement of the place. Secrets are waiting to be uncovered in the nooks and crannies, echoes of long-vanished voices echo from the vaults of the caves, sometimes Uranos and Pluto - the good spirits of the adit - will lurk, only to disappear in the still unexplored sidewalks. Gentlemen, as well as ladies, can test the "Potential" - the water that the mythological Priap left as nature's gift to the miners of Kovar. Tour dates: - summer season (July-August): from 10 am to 8 pm - autumn season (September, October): from 10 am to 5 pm - winter season (November to March): from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - spring season (April, May, June): from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For individual tourists enter the Adit at any full hour Adit closed on the following days: the first day of Easter, November 1, December 25, January 1. Due to the low temperature in the Adit (7 degrees C) and high humidity (97%), please dress warmly. The length of the tour is 1200 meters, walking time: about 60 minutes. The tour takes place only with a guide. Please notify organized groups at least one day in advance. We provide guides with English, German, French - please make orders one day in advance. At the Adit there is a pub - cafe. In the store you can buy collector minerals and Sudetic stone products, souvenirs, tourist publications.
