The parish of St. Casimir the King was established because the existing Zakopane parish was too large in scope. Contributing to its establishment was the parish priestZakopane Rev. Kazimierz Kaszelewski, who was also the originator of the jubilee cross on Giewont. Together with the Church Committee, he chose the Pitoniówka clearing near the old road Gubałówka - Dolina Kościeliska for the location of the church. The land for the construction was donated by Jan Pitoń and Jędrzej Pitoń and the wood for the construction was donated from his forest by Count Władysław Zamoyski. The church was designed by engineer Eugeniusz Wesolowski. In turn, the beautiful stained glass windows of the Virgin Mary, St. John, St. Anne and St. Joseph were designed by Jan Matejko's nephew , Stefan Matejko. Construction began in 1908 and the temple's dedication ceremony took place on February 2, 1916.
