  • Lake Czorsztyńskie has an area of 10 km2 and, together with Lake Sromowskie, was created by damming the Dunajec River and building a dam between the castles Czorsztyn andNiedzica. Construction of the dam was completed in 1997, and the same year proved the validity of the investment when it stopped a flood wave during a major flood that would likely have submerged the villages below the current dam. The height of the dam is 56 meters, the dam has 2 turbines and its capacity is 90 MW. There are recreational centers on the lake where you can rent paddle boats, pedal boats and yachts with rudders. You can also take a trip on a cruise ship (the harbor is near Niedzica Castle) and visit the regional sightseeing museum at Niedzica Castle. In winter, you can ski on the surrounding slopes, or skate on the frozen ice.
