A Teutonic castle in Gothic style from the second half of the 14th century, it was originally a three-winged building built around a courtyard, square in plan. It was surrounded by a fortified wallym with three towers and an entrance gate from the side of the town. At present, the castle houses the Wojciech Kętrzynski Museum, a branch of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, the Kętrzyn Cultural Center and a library. A library with a valuable collection of old prints and manuscripts from the 15th-19th centuries operates at the museum. The south wing of the castle houses the Mazurian Horse Gallery, which presents regional handicrafts.
