Seaside Landscape Park

Feedback

  • The Seaside Landscape Park was established as one of the first Landscape Parks in Poland. The areas of NPK are characterized by unique on a national scale values of krajobrazowy, natural and cultural. It is a protected land and sea area, with more than half of its area covered by the waters of the Bay of Puck. The land part of the Park includes a narrow strip of sea coast, stretching from Bialogóra to the Hel Peninsula, and the western shores of the Bay of Puck from Władysławowo to Mechelinki. All types of sea shores, characteristic of the southern Baltic, can be found here - cliffs, dune shores, low flooded shores. This diversity results from dynamic geomorphological processes occurring at the interface between land and sea, such as abrasion, accumulation and eolian processes. Due to the varied habitat conditions, the flora of the NPK is very rich and diverse. There are unique in the country assemblages of halophilous plants, initial communities of beaches, plant assemblages overgrowing white dunes, gray dunes, high Atlantic peat bogs. 47% of the Park's area is covered by forests, most of which are boreal communities, including crowberry forest, characteristic of the coast. A peculiarity of the NPK is the occurrence of relict plants, reaching the limits of their range here (cloudberry, European waxwort).
