16.01.2014The Baroque monastery church on the Holy Mountain was erected at the end of the 17th century by Filipino priests who arrived in Poland in 1668. The temple was built on the modelhe design of the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice. Italian architects John and George Catenazzi worked on the construction. In the first half of the 18th century Pompeo Ferrari added a huge dome with a lantern. The interior of the dome is covered with a beautiful polychrome by George Wilhelm Neuhertz from 1746. The main altar of the temple contains a 16th-century miraculous image of the Mother of God. In 1971 Pope Paul VI gave the temple the title of basilica minor . In the vaults of the crypt
