This place can be recommended to anyone for many reasons: from historical starting and simply satisfying your own curiosity :) The mast of the radio station will make a huge wrhe impression even on those who have seen the Paris stalwart - especially when one realizes that it is wooden, not steel, and, in addition, does not have any lashing ropes to reinforce its stability, and yet resists the actions of nature. When planning trips, it is not worth suggesting descriptions taken from the Readers Digest publication "Unusual corners of Poland". This is an inaccurate and unreliable study full of factual errors created in a completely amateurish manner. Therefore, it is worth looking for more accurate descriptions created if not by professionals then at least by wanderers-enthusiasts who have an idea of what they are describing. However, the best way to get to know a place is... personal visit - even the best description and a series of photos cannot replace it. Greetings to all Lazers :)
Solo - 19.09.2009In 1934-35 an impressive antenna mast was built in Gliwice. The slender structure made of larch wood beams connected by more than 16,000 bolts reached 110m in height. You havet to this day is considered the tallest wooden structure in the world! After the war, the antennas of the Gliwice mast were used to jam Radio Free Europe programs. In the future, a museum will be built in the radio station facilities.
