Bison Reserve

In 1953 a Breeding and Bison Center (243 hectares) was established in the Borki Forest District, created in 1945. In order to protect the most beautiful corners of the Great Masurian Lakes, their most valuable fragments have been protected. Particularly noteworthy is the Borecka Forest complex, located in the Kruklanki commune, which is the only remnant of primary forest in the region. The most valuable fragments of the 250 km2 primeval forest have been placed under protection. Within the forest there are 4 reserves with a total area of more than 650 hectares. A tourist attraction is the Bison Breeding Station in Wolisko, the number of which is currently estimated at about 60 animals.

Close encounters of the third degree with nature. Revelation! The bison come up to the feedlot and are almost at arm's length. You can see that they are happy there. The proof was the tinyA small bison rolling next to its watchful mother. In my opinion, there should be a ban on bringing dogs there and more staff, because unfortunately We Poles still can not behave humanely. I witnessed an unpleasant incident :( Remember that you are on their territory!
