It is an island located in Gdansk. It is surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Gdansk, the Bold Vistula and the Dead Vistula. Its creation is associated with the occurrence of an ice jam on the Vistula in the year1840.At that time, the dunes were broken and the area was completely cut off from the mainland. As the name suggests there is a port located here, it is the Northern Port, specializing in bulk loading. The island abounds in monuments, the most famous part of it being Westerplatte, but beyond that it is worth seeing the historic bridges and Wisloujscie Fortress.
