02.05.2013The reserve of inanimate nature - Skamieniałe Miasto (Petrified City), located near Ciężkowice on the slope of the Rock Hill (367 m above sea level) with an area of over 15 ha, is one of the biggest attractions of thecation in the eastern-southern part of Malopolska province. The reserve is overgrown with mixed forest in which there are more than a dozen sizable rocks built of sandstone, shaped by erosion processes - including pulpits, mace and rock mushrooms. Most of the rocks can be climbed (rock steps, chimneys). There is a waterfall in the immediate vicinity. The surrounding area also abounds in mushrooms and blueberries. In front of the entrance to the petrified city there is a parking lot for cars and a small restaurant.
