  • This is a unique church. The symbol of the city. The temple's mighty 100-meter tower dominates the neighborhood. It is also a symbol of reconciliation. Since the early 1990s, Poles and Germans have jointly rebuilt thedowivate the temple. In 1459, the works were completed and the church was solemnly consecrated. The three-nave body was supported on the west by a massive church tower. The author of this impressive work is probably Henrik Brunsberg from Stettin. By the late 1830s, the church tower had an extensive network of cracks. Attempts to save the tower failed, and the southwest corner collapsed during repairs. The progressive deterioration of the tower - a symbol of the city - was unacceptable to its residents, hence an effort to erect a new structure as early as 1855-61. Famous architects A. Soller and A. Stüler gave it a neo-Gothic form.During World War II the temple survived. There are many versions as to the destruction of the object. But the most likely one is that only after 12 days of the Red Army, the church was consumed by fire. In December 2000 the reconstruction of the church was completed. Since then, the tower again towers over the area, now at 102.63 meters and among the tallest in Poland.
