CITY WALLS preserved almost entirely, with three towers, surround the old town picturesquely. Stone, 1m thick, originally with blanks with several wickets, now known as theznie znie lowered, partially incorporated into the houses built next to them. For their erection, King J. Luxemburg granted the city full legal independence as early as 1319, which placed Bystrica among the royal cities.
