Construction, which took two years, began in September 2005. The international opening gathered several thousand tourists. The idea for the castle was born in 2003 on pihe first Medieval Fair in Byczyna was held thanks to the Opole Knight Brotherhood and the Byczyna authorities. On the territory of the castle there is an inn, a stable, numerous craft workshops - blacksmithing, weaving, pottery, archery and others. The castle has axe, spear and knife throwing lanes, and any tourist can test himself in throwing such weapons. In addition, one can also use the archery track, shooting at a target with a historical bow. The organizers encourage visitors to take a steam bath in a tub, as well as to take a guided tour of the "Chamber of Fear" - an exhibition of torture instruments. The stronghold is home to the Opole Knight Brotherhood, which includes dozens of warriors and white-robed women from various cities in southern Poland. The brotherhood promotes and recreates the culture and way of life of the Middle Ages. Members of the brotherhood regularly practice at workshops and fencing trainings. They are also involved in recreating medieval costumes and equipment. The Opole Knights Brotherhood is an association with legal personality and was established in May 2001 on the initiative of Andrzej Kowalczyk, Andrzej Kościuk, Jerzy Sowiński and Wit Pichurski. The brotherhood includes members from Opole and two flags from Raciborz. The brotherhood is part of the International Medieval League, which brings together warriors from many European countries. It participates in shows and tournaments in many Western and Eastern European countries.
