It was established as a result of the merger of the musician's <br /> house and the tower belonging to the system of city fortifications. <br /> The postwar activities of the Museum began in 1953, and since 1967 the collections of local stoneware have been collected here. Currently there are more than 6,000 <br /> exhibitsóin the collection of the Museum of Ceramics. This is the largest collection of stoneware of Boleslawiec in the world. <br /> <br /> The oldest vessels exhibited at the permanent exhibition date from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. They were discovered <br /> during an archaeological excavation conducted in 2009 . Besides many <br />interesting vessels, a curiosity is a small size toy horse, covered <br />with an intense green glaze. <br /> <br /> Among the most valuable exhibits is the collection of 9 richly decorated vessels from the 17th century. <br />acquired from a private collection, called „the Boleslawiec treasure”. <br /> <br /> A large part of the collection is covered earthenware glaze brown color. <br /> Initially they were bottles and jugs in the shape of a melon with smooth or ribbed <br /> bellies. With time bronze wares gained decoration in the form of white overlays of <br />various shapes. Among the many motifs noteworthy are jugs decorated with the coat of arms <br />of the Boleslawiec guild of potters. <br /> <br /> In the museum presented is a copy of the so-called Great Pot of Master Joppe. This ceramic <br /> vessel, considered the largest in the world, was made in 1753 . and measured over 2 m. <br /> tall and nearly 2,000 liters in capacity. It became popular to so that <br /> a play and book were written about it. <br /> <br /> On the exposition there could not be missing products with typical Boleslawiec stamped decoration. <br /> Many will be surprised probably by the fact that it appeared only at the end of the 19th century. <br /> <br /> Connoisseurs of art will be interested in elegant wares created in Boleslawiec's Professional <br /> School of Ceramics.The pieces serviceów or vases surprise with the decorativeness of forms and <br />variety of decoration.The dishes with Art Nouveau forms and in art deco style are covered <br /> multicolored glazes mash, mirror, crystal, gilding or marquetry. <br /> <br /> A sizable collection of vessels represents the postwar history of Boleslawiec factories and leading <br /> designers: Tadeusz Szafran, Izabela Zdrzałka, Bronisław Wolanin or Janina <br /> Bany-Kozłowkska.
