The town of Sopot, together with Gdańsk and Gdynia, creates an over-million agglomeration called Trójmiasto (Tri-City). Sopot is not only a health-spa and tourist destination, but also a place of Sopot International Song Festival, Sopot Art and Fashion Week 2013 or Summer Film Festival.
This summer it is worth going to Sopot because of the Art and Fashion Week. It takes place from eighth until eighteenth of August and it is the first such event in Poland. This untypical combination of art and fashion will attract tourists to original performances and meetings with uncommon artists, such as Andrzej Wajda or Joanna Sarapata. The exhibitions will be interlarded with the world of fashion – presentations of well-known and promising creators.
Sopot offers also other attractions to the visiting guests: Art Nouveau tenements and villas surrounded with trees, historic parks and beautiful, well-kept gardens. Over 60% of town’s territory is covered with greenery. It is also an excellent place to observe World Championships in sailing, Baltic Cup in Windsurfing or Sopot Triathlon. Wide, sandy beaches are the next reason to fall in love with Sopot; the longest pier in Europe (511.5 metres long) is a place of numerous festivals and events. One of them, Sopot International Song Festival, takes place each year in Opera Leśna and is one of the biggest such events in Europe.
