Do you want to escape from civilisation, be dependent only on yourself? Why not try going on a trip on a desolate river Gwda on the edge of Drawskie Lakeland? This proposition is directed on people who want to take delight in wild, immaculate nature.
It would be definitely a lonely trip – on the whole day you may not see anybody anywhere. In the woods you would not find any path or traces of tourists’ camping. The canoe trail begins at the Wierzchowo Lake, and if you want to cover its whole distance (145 kilometres), you should devote a week for it. For the first days the river is so narrow that you cannot rotate the canoe on water, and nature and forest are in your reach. The canoes are moving so silently that they do not scare away animals. As the river becomes wider, one can see water-power stations; some of the m date back to 19th century. Sometimes you would have to wade in the water and push your boat through stones and trees; and sometimes you might have to slip off a small waterfall.
During the trip you should take all your equipment, a map, and food with you. Camping is made wherever you want – in the forest, on the river coast, on the clearing… If it rains, you may wait under some bridge and only hope that your tent and sleeping bag will be dry. You must be ready for cold, lacerations, mosquitoes and corns on your hands. However, evening camp fires, adventure time, and healthy exercises are worth all of these sacrifices.
