Mrągowo is a poviat town located picturesquely on a small hill between the Czos lakes from the east, Juno from the north and Czarna from the north-east. The very shape of the surface is extremely varied. The land relief was left by the Scandinavian glacier, which, melting, created numerous gutters and strings of moraine hills - it is a landscape characteristic for the whole of Masuria. From the surrounding hills there are beautiful views of the city, especially from the hill opposite the shores of Lake Czos.
Mragowo becomes summer summer capital during holidays. The main inspirator and organizer of cultural events is the "ZODIAK" Municipal Culture Center, and the most important cultural event in the city - the International Country Music Festival "Country Picnic". For 14 years, at the turn of July and August, Mragowo became the Polish capital of country music. From Mrągowo lead numerous and attractive in terms of scenic routes to Giżycko, Mikolajki, Ruciane, Kętrzyn, Sorkwit, Reszel and Saint Lipka. Mrągowo itself with its eastern edge is based on Czos Lake, in whose waters from the south it carries a peninsula called the Four Winds Hill (185.5 m above sea level), from which there is a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
In the city there are two high-class hotels, several hostels and cruise houses, restaurants, cafes, camping, campsites, a municipal swimming pool with a beach and a marina. A varied terrain, lush vegetation, biologically clean lakes enable active recreation in Mragowo. Canoeists and sailors can use the OSiR Mrągowo water equipment rental company. Fishermen are welcomed on the richly stocked lakes.
